He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar Melvin Shields and Carrie Livengood Shields; and his brother Odell Shields. He is survived by: his wife Joyce Brescia Shields; his daughter Joni Rojas (Danny); his grandchildren, Ryan (Cat) and Alex (Lauren); his son Coy Shields, Jr. (Kathy); his grandsons, Zachary and Matthew (Bella); and his great grandchildren, Eden, Raylan, Noah and Owen.
