He is survived by: his wife Jean; his daughter Jessie; his grandson Ezra; his stepmother Beverly; his brothers, Bill Fairley (Dalinda) and John Fairley (Laurie); his nieces, Taylor, Sara, Ashley and Mary Virginia; and also, David Fairley, Mary Katherine Anderson, Susanne Lankford, Frank, Rory, Heather and Jimmy.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Alex's name to Via Health Partners or Humane Society of Charlotte.
