We announce the death of David H. Burns (Charlotte, North Carolina), born in Chicago, Illinois, who passed away on September 5, 2026, at the age of 89. David will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. David will be remembered for the impact he had on the lives of those around him. Friends, family, and colleagues will cherish their memories and the time shared. Those who knew David will remember moments of kindness, warmth, and presence. Though words cannot fully capture his life, the legacy of connections and experiences remains. David’s absence will be deeply felt by those who valued his companionship.
He was predeceased by: his wife Barbara Jahn Burns. He is survived by: his grandchildren, Rhys, Ann Chandler, Tristan, Ella and Charlotte; his close friend Marilynn Bellman; and his children, Douglas (Cindy), John (Mary) and Jane Burns Tune (Trey).
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, September 27th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Southminster (8919 Park Rd, Charlotte, NC 28210).
In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to The Relatives, 1100 East Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28203, a nonprofit organization that helps youth find shelter and support.
