He was predeceased by: his father Junior Fortson; his aunts, Coleen and Dot; and his close friend Stan. He is survived by: his wife Renee Fortson; his children, Ross Ervin and Danielle Furr; his son-in-law Shane Furr; his mother Hazel Boatwright; his sister Janice Cruse; his niece Amber Cruse; and his mother-in-law Elenor Ervin.

His family requests donations of flowers and notes to be sent to the church before service.
