With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Donald Burl Chess (Charlotte, North Carolina), who passed away on February 9, 2025 at the age of 85. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Though Donald Burl may no longer walk beside us, his memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Donald Burl touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In his absence, his spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Dee Chess and Ella Chess. He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Hamby Chess; his daughter Melissa Chess McKibben (Dennis); his siblings, Patsy Cash, Rose Konecnik of Missouri and Tommy Chess of Tennessee; and his grandchildren, Rachel and Ryan McKibben.
