We announce the death of Gracie Lucille Hunter Cody of Charlotte, North Carolina, who passed away on October 1, 2026, at the age of 78. She was predeceased by: her parents, Onzalo William Hunter Sr. and Maggie John Penn; her brother Onzalo "William" Hunter Jr.; her daughter Ferncina Richardson; and her great grandchild Kimaya Gilliam.
She is survived by: her grandson Nirada; her partner Pernell Sings Sr.; her daughters, Marshelle Richardson Williams (Darrel), Trina Richardson Holloway and Pamela D. Richardson (Vincent); her grandsons, Tracy S. Gilliam, Solomon D. Gilliam and Nirada R.; her great grandchildren, Tranae Gilliam, Angel Gilliam, Isis Gilliam, Melanna Lee and Kenlontae Jones; her great great grandchildren, Mikah Parsons and Ary'Ell Allah; and her pet Bader Ginsburg.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 10th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon Memorial Park (5716 Monroe Rd, Charlotte, NC 28212). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 10th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A committal service will be held on Saturday, October 10th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A repast will be held on Saturday, October 10th 2026 at 3:00 PM at the McEwen Funeral Service (5716 Monroe Rd, Charlotte, NC 28212).
