With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Horst Duerbeck of Charlotte, North Carolina, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. He was predeceased by: his parents, Otto Duerbeck and Renate Duerbeck (Schmidtmann); his former wife Lise St; his siblings, Eberhardt Duerbeck (Marianne) and Helga; and his brother-in-law Wolfgang Marold.

He is survived by: his wife Cathy Brewster Duerbeck; his brother Wolfgang Duerbeck (Elka); his children, Eric Duerbeck and Renate Farabaugh (Fred); his stepchildren, Tyler Tooke (Anna), Amy Tooke and Becky Dubose (Steve); and his grandchildren, Charlotte Farabaugh, Avery Farabaugh, Ryan Dubose and Carson Dubose. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Charlotte Mecklenburg Fire Department who were so gracious to help them on several occasions.
