He was predeceased by: his parents, George Ira Pearce and Sadie Whitener Pearce; and his brothers, Reverend H. Worth Pearce of Hickory, NC and Marion E. Pearce of Lexington, NC.. He is survived by: his wife Dr. Mary Buxton Pearce; his children, Gerald David Pearce (Lisa Jordan Pearce) of Charlotte and Lisa Pearce Talley (Mark Talley) of Matthews; his grandchildren, Hannah Soto (Jesse Soto) of Matthews and Nolan Talley of Greenville, SC; and his great grandchildren, Brayden, Cameran and Holden Soto of Matthews.
