He was predeceased by: his parents, Odean O. Hestikind and Martha Smith Hestikind; and his sister Marsha Hestikind Dry. He is survived by: his children, Corey Beth Travaglini (Nick) and James Dean Hestikind Jr.; his siblings, Cheryl Hestikind Shue (Mark) and Robert Howard Hestikind (Lynn); his grandchildren, John, Natalie and Thomas Travaglini; and his former wife Dawn Hestikind. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles.
A procession was held on Sunday, September 21st 2025 at 1:30 PM at the Oakboro Park (423 S Main St, Oakboro, NC 28129). A graveside service was held on Sunday, September 21st 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Freedom Baptist Church (20015 Coley Store Rd, Locust, NC 28097).
