He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Short and Lois Short; his parents-in-law, Troy and Elsie Wilson; and his siblings-in-law, Steve and Mary Wilson.

He is survived by: his wife Connie; his children, David Short (Maggie) of Columbus, OH and Laura Neal (Whit) of Waxhaw, NC; his grandchildren, Haley Territo (Matt), Daisy Short, Eli Short, Michael Neal (Brynlee) and Abby Neal; his siblings-in-law, Nelson and Nikki Everhardt; his nieces and nephews, Beau Wilson, Ben Wilson (Erin), Kristi Langmeyer (Tim) and Kelli Johnson; and his sister Beverly Gruber.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Francis United Methodist Church, 4200 McKee Road, Charlotte, NC 28270.

“i have known Jim Short since we were children and were staying at the First Presbyterian Church Day Careb while our parents worked.We later met at Harding High School where we both graduated a year apart. Jim was always a nice man to know. May he rest in peace.”
