He was loved and cherished by many people including: his father Robert Joe Nelson; his wife Janet; his sons, James Nelson and Robert Nelson (Taylor); his grandchild Hayes of Charlotte; his sister Teresa Hickam of Lenoir, NC; his nephew Quentin Hickam (Jerry Reed) of Pineville, NC; his brothers-in-law, Norris Preyer (Lucy) of Davidson, NC and Fred Hickam; his father Norris Preyer; and his mother-in-law Kathryn Preyer.
