She was predeceased by: her parents, Thomas Clay and Mary B Crowell Abernethy; her husband Thomas E. Stanley; her son Thomas E. Stanley, Jr.; her sisters, Jane A. Brewer and Corinne A. Cole; and her niece Leslie Cole Payne Thomas.
She is survived by: her children, Robert C. Stanley (Sara Stanley) of Chapel Hill, NC, Carolyn S. Perry (Onney Perry) of Rocky Mount, NC and Ellen S. Robbins (Bucky Robbins) of Hickory, NC.; her grandchildren, Mary Allison Bobiak (Doug), Brian Lee (Andrea), Stephen Lee (Tiffany), Carolyn Lee, Clay Stanley (Alexandra Starks) and Connor Stanley; her great grandchildren, Harrison, James Bobiak, Thomas, Calvin Lee and Harper Lee; and her stepgrandchildren, Holli Robbins Patel, Drew Dettelbach, Alfred Perry, Lois Perry Bell and Vickie Perry Dorn.
A memorial service was held on Monday, September 15th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Francis Chapel at Myers Park United Methodist Church (1501 Queens Rd, Charlotte, NC 28207).
