It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mary Helen Smith of Charlotte, North Carolina, born in Wise, North Carolina, who passed away on July 11, 2023, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, William White Barrowman and Maxie G Meade Barrowman; her siblings, Joseph Thomas Barrowman and Nita Mae Stewart; her nephew Joe Edward Barrowman; and her daughter Donna Stephenson.

She is survived by: her daughter Beverly Stephenson Duncan; her son-in-law David Paul Siegel; her grandson Sean Duncan (Octaviana Asamasama Hemy); her great grandchild Lucas; and her brothers, William Raymond, Edward Donald and Charles Bruce Barrowman.
