Nancy Abernethy Obituary
We are sad to announce that, on January 9, 2026, at the age of 84, Nancy Abernethy (Charlotte, North Carolina) passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Charles Fay Abernethy and Thelma Swearengen Abernethy; and her brothers, Richard Franklin Abernethy and Charles Frederick Abernethy. She is survived by: her friend InReach; her children, David Pollock Underwood of Charlotte, NC, Kyle Underwood Shive (Andrew) of Tega Cay, SC and Kathryn Underwood Smith (Allen) of Charlotte, NC.; her grandchildren, John David Melton, Harrison Pollock Melton, Kathryn Abernethy "Abbie" Walker and David Vayle Walker; her brother Kenneth Furman Abernethy (Carlen); and her daughter Amy Fennebresque Burleson. She is also survived by cousins, nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
