It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Rate Andrew Howell of Charlotte, North Carolina, born in Iowa City, Iowa, who passed away on August 24, 2021, at the age of 98, leaving to mourn family and friends. “I just became aware of Rate's death. I came across a letter we received from him back in 2007 - shortly after he moved to North Carolina. I looked his name up on the internet and found his obituary. Rate lived across the street from us in Phoenix and he and my husband, John, became good friends. He was a good man and I am sure that all of you miss him dearly. You have our sympathy.
