It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Retta Vance Poynter of Charlotte, North Carolina, born in Savannah, Georgia, who passed away on December 6, 2025, at the age of 64, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her father Allen Vance. She is survived by: her mother Retta Jelks Vance of Bristol; her daughter Retta McLaurin Carroll (Grey) of Lynchburg; her sisters, Julie Vance Brown (Bill) of Kingsport and Helen Vance Scott (Bob) of Bristol, Tennessee; her siblings-in-law, Jeff and Missy Poynter; and her siblings' children, Molly Brown, Katie Hay (Max), Riley Poynter, Sam and Brian Scott.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, December 20th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Carmel Baptist Church (1145 Pineville-Matthews Rd, Matthews, NC 28105).
