He was predeceased by: his parents, James Christie and Agnes King Smyrl; and his brother Dave Smyrl of Ullapool, Scotland.. He is survived by: his wife Shelby Smyrl of Charlotte, N. C.; his sons, Jack Smyrl of Charlotte, N. C. and James Smyrl of Charlotte, N. C.; and his granddaughter Tabitha.
