He was predeceased by: his parents, Charlie Elrod and Inez Elrod; and his former wife Ruth. He is survived by: his wife Kay Elrod; his daughters, Jane Venick (Carly) and Kelly Lanning (Kirk); his granddaughters, Ruthie and Sidney Venick; and his siblings, Charles Elrod and Susan Elrod. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in memory of Lake to the American Cancer Society.
