It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Virgie Hannah Long of Charlotte, North Carolina, who passed away on June 3, 2023, at the age of 95, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her husband Charles W. Long (Charlie); her daughter Cynthia L. Sherrill; and her siblings, Leona Alford, Vera Wallace, Paul Hannah, Sam Hannah and Donnie Hannah.

She is survived by: her children, Karen L. Sellers and Michael W. Long; her grandchildren, Amber S. Smith (Daniel) and Brandon W. Sherrill (Philomena); her great grandchildren, Grayson, Riley, Naomi Smith, Weston and Sadie Sherrill; and her son-in-law Robert Sherrill (Eleanor). She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and longtime friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Virgie's name to either Central Church, 5301 Sardis Road, Charlotte, NC 28270, or Novant Health Hospice, 324 N. McDowell Street, Suite 200, Charlotte, NC 28204.
