He is survived by: his parents, Robert E. Christenbery and Ruth Christenbery; his daughter Grace Christenbery; his brothers, Robert E. Christenbery Jr. (Karen Ann) and Stephen D. Christenbery (Cavelle Davolio); his nephew Robert E. Christenbery III (Susanna); his great-nieces, Ava and Emma; his nephew Charles Christenbery (Elizabeth); his great-niece Natalie; and his pet Lola. He is also survived by friends, family members.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of Charlotte in his memory.

“I was no longer a patient of David's but he was always gentle & caring when I was, much like Dr. Campbell, my long-time dentist (and David's as well). Other family members, including my late mother, remained his patients with my mother enjoying her dental visits, telling David a joke & he, in turn, sharing one with her. I think they saved up jokes until they saw each other. My sympathy to his daughter, family, friends & staff (& sweet Lola too).”
