Harry Howard Burgess Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Harry Howard Burgess of Cherokee, North Carolina, who passed away on December 10, 2025 at the age of 88. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Luther Burgess and Orpha White Burgess. He is survived by: his wife Virginia Dair Akin; his sister Rosemary Picklesimer; his children, Janet Burgess, Teresa Bowen (James), Bruce Burgess (Jennifer) and Kent Burgess (Elizabeth); his grandchildren, Vanessa Verner, Aylin Turner, Christopher Bowen, Samantha Bowen and Devan Jump; and his great grandchildren, Harry Verner and Corbin Jump. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 22nd 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Ivie Funeral Home (194 Peachtree St, Murphy, NC 28906). A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, December 23rd 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Ranger Baptist Church Cemetery (151 Walker Rd, Murphy, NC 28906).
