She is survived by: her children, Latresa Chastain Hayes (Tim), Sharon Chastain Garner (Mark), Gail Chastain Gibson (Kent) and John A. Chastain (Susan Mathis); her brother John Wilbur Smith; her grandchildren, Ladonna, Katrina Hayes, Cheyenne Carson (Brittany), Michael Carson, Devan Gibson Wallace (Aaron), Austin Gibson (Riley Mayer), Caeden Chastain, Parker Mathis and JoJo; her great grandchildren, Juleesa, Kemberr Hayes, Xavier, Zaeden, Zola, Draya, Kenyen, Kyler Carson, Cameron, Kellan Gibson, Rykah, Rza Wallace and Nolan Gibson; and her great great grandchild Jaxton Gibson. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, November 1st 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Oconaluftee Island Park (US-441, Cherokee, NC 28719).
