He was predeceased by: his parents, George Wesley and Ola Mae Seate Bumgarner; his former wife Barbara Etta Helms Bumgarner; and his siblings, Leroy, Donald, Stanley, Lloyd, Bobby, Merle Bumgarner and Jeanette Bumgarner.
He is survived by: his wife Kay Grigg Bumgarner; his children, Nelson Bumgarner, Susan Biglin and Lori Béen (Jefferson); his stepdaughters, Teresa Smith (Danny), Amy Turner (David) and Kim Crane (Stephen); his sister Peggy McSwain (Sherrill); his sisters-in-law, Betty Bumgarner, Peggy Bumgarner and Libby Beam; and his stepgrandchildren, Charlie Smith, Robert Smith, Kelly Setzer, Adam Crane, Stephanie Crane, David Turner and Rachel Smith. He is also survived by 10 great grandchildren.
