He was predeceased by : his parents, James Ralph "Tom" Hovis and Angelita Hollifield Hovis; and his sister Janice Ruth Hovis Anthony. He is survived by : his wife Janice Ledford Hovis; his children, Julie Dawn Lyles (Tracy) of Cherryville and David Ronald Hovis, Jr. of Huntersville; his granddaughter Mary Elizabeth Wyatt (Cain Wilkinson) of Cherryville; and his siblings-in-law, Steve, Patty Owens of Cherryville and Eddie Ledford of Gastonia. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
