He was predeceased by: his parents, F. C. Simmons and Mary Louise Collins Simmons. He is survived by: his daughter Karla; his son-in-law Kevin Scott; his grandchildren, Noah Scott (Makayla), Carter Forrest, Kyron Forrest and Seth Scott; and his siblings, Rev. Omar Wade Simmons (Theresa), Marie Cook (John), Beverly Evans (Gary), Virgil Simmons (Amy), Rodney Simmons (Amy) and Nathan Simmons (Lisa). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
