He was predeceased by: his parents, Alco Smith and Cora Belle Smith; his wife Delma Goodman Smith; and his siblings, Henry Smith, Jack Smith, Luther Smith, Pauline Everson, Glennie Spry, Ruth Bowlin and Beulah Gibson.
He is survived by: his niece Marie Annette Hampton; his great-nieces and great-nephews, Larissa Hampton, Trevon Hampton and James Hampton; and his nephews, Steve Smith and Randy Bowling.
