He was predeceased by: his parents, Liston Foy Atwell and Evelyn Omtea Corriher Atwell; and his son Todd Atwell. He is survived by: his wife Sylvia Freeze Atwell; his children, Rodney Atwell (Jackie) of China Grove and Kimberly Atwell of China Grove; his grandsons, Patrick Atwell (Stacie) of Concord, NC and Garrett Atwell of China Grove, NC; and his great grandchildren, Zoe Atwell and Ava Atwell.
Visitation was held on Friday, November 7th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 5:45 PM at the Mt. Zion United Church of Christ (1350 S Main St, China Grove, NC 28023). A funeral service was held on Friday, November 7th 2025 at 6:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Monday, November 10th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Westlawn Memorial Park (1350 S Main St, China Grove, NC 28023).
Memorials may be made to Mount Zion building fund.
