It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Alton Earl Congleton of Chocowinity, North Carolina, born in Beaufort, North Carolina, who passed away on January 10, 2024, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by : his parents, James Marshall Congleton and Lela Bell Pinkham Congleton; his former life partners, Frances H. Congleton and Anna Jo Congleton; his siblings, James Marshall Congleton, Jr., Paul E. Congleton, Edna Mae Congleton Woolard, Eula Gray Congleton, Ella Ruth Congleton and Hilda Hardison; and his grandchild Ryan Thaddeus Cale.
He is survived by : his wife Janie Mae Martin Congleton; his children, Lela Carol Congleton Spain of Washington, Alton Wayne Congleton of Washington, Teresa Congleton Barrow of Pinetown, Carolyn Evans (Jeff) of Williamston and Ray Hann (Michelle) of Washington; and his brother Herbert Congleton (Delaine) of Chocowinity. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, and a great great grandchild.
