He was predeceased by: his parents, Allen Linner Dixon and Josephine Wall Dixon; and his siblings, Joseph Dixon and April Willoughby. He is survived by: his wife Lydia Alice Dixon; his son Matthew Dixon (Kara) of Vanceboro; his adoptive children, Rita Cooksey of Washington, Sara Mayo (David) of Aurora, Paul Galland, Jr. (Ashlie) of Washington and James Jarrett, Jr. of Chocowinity; his siblings, Jesse Dixon (Joan) of Chocowinity, Phillip Dixon (Jonita) of Washington, Barbara Adams of Maysville, Lillian Armstrong (Jerry) of Chocowinity and Sharon Carrow (Paul) of Washington; his grandchildren, Rebekah Villalobos (Abel), Cheyenne Wood (Cody), Daryan Faircloth, Jordan Kolibabek (Ryan), Gabrielle Dixon, Maria Wainwright, Alex Wainwright and Wade Mayo; and his great grandchildren, Miguel Villalobos, Mariah Villalobos, Alicia Villalobos, Alexandria Howell and Olivia Wood.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, October 28th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Paul Funeral Home - Washington (900 John Small Ave, Washington, NC 27889). A graveside service was held on Wednesday, October 29th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Dixon Cemetery (1896 Old New Bern Rd, Chocowinity, NC 27817).
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to Gentiva Hospice, 222 Stewart Parkway, Suite 100, Washington, NC 27889.
