He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Hal Mitchem and Sally Marie Welch Mitchem; and his brothers, Hal Mitchem, Jerry Mitchem and Bill Mitchem.
He is survived by: his son Jason Mitchem of Conover; his siblings, Tommy Mitchem (Jan) and Christine Norman (James); his sisters-in-law, Peggy Mitchem and Teresa Mitchem; Mary Ann Watters Mitchem. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
