He was predeceased by: his parents, Foster Jinks Harper and Annie Fowler Harper; his daughter Crystal Marie Harper; and his brothers, James Harper and Joseph Harper.
He is survived by: his children, William Maloy Harper (Ruthie) of Whiteville, NC, Nicholas Harper of Whiteville, NC, Joni H. Van Dyne (Eugene) of Lumberton, NC and Hollie H. Sasser (Jabe) of Nakina, NC; and his sister Judy Harper of Tabor City, NC. He is also survived by six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
