He was loved and cherished by many people including: his father Allen Lester Mims Sr.; his wife Emily Lee Hunt; his son Allie Jackson Mims II; his daughter-in-law Jessica Mims; his daughter Pattie Mims Howard; and his grandchildren, Edward Jackson "Eddie" Mims, LeeAnn Elizabeth Howard and Lester Jackson "L. J." Howard.
Alongside Lee, he was a founding member of the Clayton Cultural Arts Foundation and was chairman of the Clayton Auditorium Renovation Capital Campaign.
