Heather Marie Merritt Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Heather Marie Merritt of Clayton, North Carolina, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on June 9, 2025 at the age of 39. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her grandmothers, Glenda Gurno and Dorothy Byrd; and her cousin Edward Oxendine. She is survived by: her parents, Tony Merritt and Linda Faircloth Merritt of Fayetteville; her husband William Strickland of Clayton; her stepson Cameron Raynor; her son Ethan Surles; her stepsons, William Strickland and Jessie Strickland; her daughters, Erica Surles of Clayton and Elanie Surles of Clayton; her sister Courtney Lavier (Kevin) of Fayetteville; her niece Sydney Lavier; and her nephew Godrick Lavier of Fayetteville. She is also survived by grandchild due in December and many extended family members and friends.
Visitation was held on Friday, June 13th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Lafayette Funeral Home (6651 Raeford Rd, Fayetteville, NC 28304). A funeral service was held on Friday, June 13th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the same location.
