He was predeceased by: his wife Edna Garner of Clayton; his parents, Effie Garner and J. C. Garner of Beulaville; his brother Wilbur Garner (Russell Garner) of Beulaville; and his son Jeff Garner of Raleigh.
He is survived by: his children, Gene Garner (Rahel) of Winston-Salem, Becky Garner of Smithfield and Jo Anne Garner Williams (Alan) of Clayton; and his brothers, Willie Garner of Leland and Kenneth Garner of Wake Forest. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
