A funeral service was held on Saturday, April 20th 2024 at 3:00 PM at the Scotland Neck Auditorium (1310 Main St, Scotland Neck, NC 27874). A burial was held on Saturday, April 20th 2024 at the Staton Memorial Cemetery. Still, due to COVID-19 and to protect our families, visitors, and staff, New Beginnings Funeral Service, Inc. will follow all CDC guidelines by implementing social distancing and requiring wearing masks for all services.

“What an AMAZING person with an infectious smile and laugh. A ray of sunshine. Beautiful to the core. I met her when I came to work at Rex in 2020. She was so warm and welcoming. She always called me "Ladybug". My heart is broken. I have no words to convey how very much I will miss you. Rest in the arms of your Heavenly Father. I know one day I will see you again. “We met around 2017 working together at DHHS. Every morning she walked in with a smile on her face, dressed to the T, saying Hey Mary! She was a ray of sunshine. I remember her hearing my boyfriend (now husband) was a handyman and she requested he come over to her house to fix her mailbox and put new address numbers on it - which he did!! She loved talking about her 2 nieces who lit up her world. Mekella- you will be dearly missed and may you rest in peace.”
