He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Robert Sparks and Tilda Burnette Sparks; his siblings, Roy and Charlene; and his niece Lisa Cornell.

He is survived by: his nieces, Traci Jermyn (Brad), Leigh Howard (James) and Karen Jimerson; and his nephew Randall Martin.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
