He is survived by: his wife Nancy O'Brien Kates; his daughters, Elisa Boyle (Conrad) and Charlotte Kates; his grandchildren, Connor, Addison, Chase and Avery; his brother Mike Kates (Phyllis); his nephew Austin (Ashley); and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Brady and Taylor.
