He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence Brooks and Louise Triplett Brooks; his son Eric Stephen Brooks; his granddaughter Cortney Brooks Hegler; his sister Sue Sparks (Gene); his half-siblings, Tony, Benny Brooks, Judy Lusk (Harry) and Diane Roberts (James); and his stepmother Gladys Brooks.
He is survived by: his wife Jane Hayes Brooks; his sons, Jerome Brooks and Michael Brooks; his grandchildren, David Brooks (Samantha), Sherri Brooks, Carmen Brooks, Sabrina Brooks (Tyler), Katelyn Brooks, Kyndall Brooks, Destiny Brooks (John) and Eric Brooks; and his niece Mary Snyder. He is also survived by seven great grandchildren.
