She was predeceased by: her parents, Mack Matthews and Allie Matthews; her husband John Princeton Royal; and her siblings, Carson, Leonard, Paul, Wade, Shirley Williams, Irene Pridgen and Gray Stroud.
She is survived by: her children, Carson Royal (Tori) of Wilmington, NC and Cathy Brown (Frankie) of Roseboro, NC.; her grandchildren, Kate Bullard of Clinton, Kyle Brown (Ashton) of Roseboro, Allie Royal of Raleigh and Ashley Honeycutt (Grant) of Clinton; her great grandchildren, John, Rhett, Zoe and Jax; and her siblings, Hazel McNeill, Jean Cline, Larry Matthews and Elwood Matthews. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 17th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Grove Park Baptist Church (609 Northeast Blvd, Clinton, NC 28328). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 17th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
