She was predeceased by: her parents, J. T. Denning (John Thurman) and Verna Denning; and her parents-in-law, Elese Herring and Mac Herring, Sr.. She is survived by: her husband Dr. Rufus McPhail Herring, Jr. (Mac) of Clinton; her son John McPhail Herring (Claire Barnhardt Herring); her grandchildren, John McPhail, Jr. (Jack) of Charlotte and Katherine Flintom (Kate) of Charlotte; her great grandchild Neill McPhail Herring (Annie McLeod Herring); her sister Jean Kunzman (Dave Kunzman) of West Jefferson, NC; her sisters-in-law, Martha Vaughn (Jim Vaughn) of Summerville, SC and Prudence Dawson (Bobby Dawson) of Kernersville, NC.; her pet Ellie; Elizabeth McLeod (Lizzie) of Mount Pleasant, SC, McPhail Aiken (McPhail) of Mount Pleasant, SC and William Blythe (William) of Mount Pleasant, SC. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and their children.
