He was predeceased by: his parents, Rubert Strickland and Lura Opal Stewart Strickland; and his brother David Strickland. He is survived by: his wife Nadine Bradshaw Strickland; his son Michael Strickland (Angela Thomas Strickland); his grandchildren, Travis Strickland and Rachel Strickland Doyle (Ashley Doyle); and his brothers, Charles Strickland, Eddie Strickland and Bobby Strickland.
