He was predeceased by: his parents, James Paul Spell and Repsie Lane Spell; his wife Priscilla Ann Weeks Spell; his siblings, Vernon Spell, Diane Spell, Annie Ruth Jackson and Inez Tyndall; and his grandson Leon Spell.

He is survived by: his sons, William Fulton Spell (Linda) and Raymond Paul Spell (Shannon); his grandchildren, Nicholas Scott Spell (Scarlett), Hannah Renee Spell (Josh), Corey Spell Nelms (Kelly), Taylor Hope Spell, Ethan Paul Spell and Ryann Elizabeth Spell; and his siblings, Ruby Medlin, Charles Spell, Lonnie Spell and Jesse Spell. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren.
