He was predeceased by: his parents, William W. Schaeffer and Elizabeth Harris Schaeffer; his wife Nola Brewington Schaeffer; his grandson Adam David Brewington; and his son-in-law Oscar Wade Simmons.
He is survived by: his children, Robert Brewington (Jennifer) and Teresa Simmons; his grandchildren, Lindsay Brewington, Lisa Smith and Austin Simmons; his great grandchildren, Jacob Simmons, Cody Simmons, Kaylee Simmons, Taytin Simmons, Saydee Simmons, Logan Smith Wright and Channing Smith; and his niece Barbara Bornheim. He is also survived by many other nieces and nephews.
