She was predeceased by: her parents, Elmond F. Shipp and Bessie Eva Hope Shipp; her husband John Mitchell, Jr.; and her siblings, Wilton Shipp, Ray Shipp and Alice Shipp Cobb.

She is survived by: her children, Doug Mitchell (Jean) of Weldon, Jerry Wayne Mitchell (Eldora) of Roseboro, Connie Mitchell Rich (E. C.) of Garland, Janet Sharpe Mitchell of Clinton and Darlene Mitchell Heuts (Bob) of Cary; and her grandchildren, Cindy, Steve, Dean, Melinda, Randy, Lynn, Lorie, Tammy and Elliott. She is also survived by Eleven great-grandchildren; Ten great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
