He was predeceased by: his parents, James Edward and Janie Lee Matthis Kersey; and his brother Belvin Kersey. He is survived by: his wife Marilyn Stallings Kersey; his daughters, Sonya Lee Kersey of Wilson and Christal Kersey Honeycutt (Michael) of West End; his stepdaughters, Brooke Blackmon (Roland) of Faison and Dana Cain (Adam) of Fletcher; his grandchildren, Michael Tyler Honeycutt (Aashna), Kristen Gurgone (Seth), Katherine Matthis (Chasen), Justin Honeycutt and Johnathon Blackmon (Lauren Naylor); and his great grandchildren, Thomas Matthis and Rhett Gurgone.
