He was predeceased by: his parents, Alene Darden and Gordon Best Powell; and his brother Kirby D. Powell. He is survived by: his wife Linda Daly Powell; his children, Kimberly Swisher (Mark), James G. Powell and Crystal Oakley (Bryan); his grandchildren, James C. Powell, Grace Swisher and Jack Swisher; his great grandchild Annaliese Powell; and his brother Paul Powell.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 13th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the New Life Baptist Church (2605 Southeast Blvd, Clinton, NC 28328). A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 13th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. The military honors will be held on Monday, October 13th 2025 at the Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery (164 Longs Plant Farm Rd, Goldsboro, NC 27534).
