He was predeceased by: his parents, William Lennon Starling and Hilda Baggett Starling; his wife Annell Daughtry Starling; and his siblings, William "Billy" Lennon Starling, Jr., Joel Lambert Starling, Janie Starling Kopp and Edith Starling Harrison.
He is survived by: his children, Donna Starling Joyce (Michael) of Palm Coast, Florida, Kathy Jay Starling of Rock Island, Illinois and Luther Donald Starling, Jr. (Lew) of Clinton; his granddaughters, Annell Grace Starling and Annie Marie Starling of Clinton; and his brother-in-law N. Leo Daughtry (Helen). He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, July 18th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Home of Luther Donald Starling (703 Coharie Dr, Clinton, NC 28328). A funeral service was held on Saturday, July 19th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church (408 College St, Clinton, NC 28328).
