We are sad to announce that, on August 23, 2022, at the age of 89, Mary Elizabeth Thornton of Clinton, North Carolina passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Robert Phillip Powell and Ada Elizabeth Powell; her husband Russell Lea Thornton; and her siblings, Johnny Powell and Caroline Shiers.
She is survived by: her children, Elizabeth Ann Thornton (Wade), Linda Faye Wengert (John), Lois Thornton Hope (Sam) and Robert Allen Thornton (Alice Faye); her siblings, Billy Powell and Lynn Britt; her grandchildren, Patricia Ann Longino (Matt), Nina Lee Thoman (Kevin), Chris Thornton (Amy), Amanda Burch, Susan Smith and Robert Thornton, Jr.; and her great grandchildren, Kelly Longino, Addy Longino, Zack Thoman, Nate Thoman, Haiden Smith, Preston Hall, Caleb Thornton and Haley Burch. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
