He was predeceased by: his parents, Russell Lea Thornton and Mary Elizabeth Powell Thornton. He is survived by: his wife Alice Faye Holland Thornton; his children, Robert Allen Thornton, Jr., Patricia Longino (Matthew) and Nina Thoman (Kevin); his sisters, Ann Thornton, Linda Faye Wengert (John) and Lois Thornton Hope; his grandchildren, Kelly Longino, Adelaide Longino, Zach Thoman and Nate Thoman; and his great-niece Haley Alexis Burch.
