He was predeceased by: his parents, Melvin Lanning and Elizabeth Lanning (Lizzy); and his siblings, Harold Lanning, John Henry Bumgarner, Glenn Bumgarner, Ardith Wyatt, Alma Mitchell, Ella Mae Stevenson, Lily Lanning, Sarah Lunsford and Romaine Wilson.
He is survived by: his wife Paula Jean Lanning; his sons, David Elkins (Norma), Steven Lanning (Haley) and Brian Lanning (Annie Jonelle); his brother Kenneth Lanning (Patsy); and his grandchildren, Billy, Michael, Justin, Riley, Mason, Jaxon, Millie and Ally. He is also survived by six great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
